That produces three practical consequences worth planning around.
- There is no resurfacing cycle. Tile commonly lasts 15 to 20 years, and until it fails there is nothing to recoat. Renewal is event driven rather than calendar driven.
- Repairs are granular and fast. A damaged tile is unclipped and swapped. You do not lose the court for a week of curing, and you do not pay to redo areas that are fine.
- Color is not repaintable. Tile color is molded in, so a color change means new tile, not a new coat. A tile court’s palette is a purchase decision, not a maintenance decision.
What tile cannot do is correct the base beneath it.
