Cost-effective conversion process

Converting an existing tennis court to pickleball is one of the most cost-effective ways to get into the game. Precision Sports CT handles conversions for homeowners, clubs, parks, and municipalities across Connecticut and Florida — preserving your existing court base while adding regulation pickleball lines, posts, and nets.

How Many Pickleball Courts Fit on a Tennis Court?

A standard tennis court (60’ x 120’ with surrounds) can accommodate:

  • 1 pickleball court — Easiest conversion, uses center area with maximum surrounding space
  • 2 pickleball courts — Side by side, the most popular residential conversion
  • 4 pickleball courts — Maximum capacity, ideal for clubs and public facilities

We can also create dual-sport layouts with both tennis and pickleball lines on the same court, using contrasting colors for clear differentiation.

Our Conversion Process

1. Court Assessment

We evaluate your existing tennis court for conversion suitability:

  • Surface condition — cracks, drainage issues, or delamination that needs repair first
  • Base integrity — ensuring the asphalt or concrete base is sound
  • Space mapping — determining optimal pickleball court placement and orientation
  • Net post locations — planning post sleeve placement to avoid existing infrastructure

2. Surface Preparation & Repair

Before adding pickleball elements, we address any existing surface issues:

  • Crack filling and low-spot patching
  • Pressure washing to remove dirt, algae, and loose coating
  • Resurfacing with fresh acrylic if the existing surface is too worn

3. Post Sleeve Installation

We core-drill and set permanent post sleeves at regulation positions:

  • Center net post sleeves at 22’ from baseline, precisely on center line
  • Concrete-set sleeves rated for commercial net system tension
  • Flush-mount caps for when nets are removed (dual-sport courts)

4. Line Painting & Surfacing

Professional line work makes or breaks a conversion:

  • USAP-regulation pickleball lines — 2” width in contrasting color
  • Non-volley zone (kitchen) marking — Clear 7’ zones on both sides
  • Optional full resurface — Fresh color within pickleball court areas for visual distinction
  • Dual-sport striping — If keeping tennis lines, we use contrasting colors (e.g., white for tennis, yellow for pickleball)

5. Net Installation

Every conversion includes regulation pickleball net systems:

  • Portable or permanent systems to match your needs
  • 34” center height, 36” sideline height per USAP specifications
  • Commercial-grade frames for public and club installations

Tennis-to-Pickleball Conversion Cost

Conversion costs are significantly lower than building a new court from scratch:

  • Basic line addition (keeping tennis lines): $2,000 - $4,000
  • Dedicated conversion (new post sleeves, nets, fresh surface): $5,000 - $12,000
  • Full multi-court conversion (4 courts with resurfacing): $10,000 - $25,000

Compare this to $25,000 - $60,000 for new pickleball court construction and the value is clear.
